Biography

Cecile Tuzii was born in Cagnes sur Mer, France. Upon graduation from the Academie de Danse, Princesse Grace de Monaco, she joined the Basler Ballet(Switzerland).

In 1992, she joined the Ballet du Rhin Mulhouse (France), where, she performed solo and principal roles in Romeo and Juliet, La Sylphide, The Maure’s Pavane and The Four Temperaments.

In 1994,Cecile came back to Basler Ballet where she danced major works by the Choreographer Youri Vamos: Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sleeping Beauty, and Nutcracker.

In 1996, when Youri Vamos took over the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Dusseldorf (Germany), Cecile Tuzii was invited to join the German Company. Here she performed solo and principal roles in Othello, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Carmina Burana, Coppelia, Le Sacre du Printemps as well as contemporary works by Hans Van Manen, Mats Ek, Uwe Scholtz, and Christopher Bruce.

In 2004, she joined Tulsa ballet (Oklahoma) and danced works by Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, Christopher wheeldon, Ben Stevenson, Stanton Welch, Nacho Duato, Ma Cong, Val Caniparoli and Marcello Angelini.

In 2006, she joined the Richmond Ballet, where she expanded her repertory with works from George Balanchine, John Butler, Nicholas (Papa) Beriosov, Freddie Franklin, Agnes De Mille, Ma Cong, Val Caniparoli, Malcolm Burn, and Stoner Winslett.

Cecile is currently in her seventh season with the Richmond Ballet Company.
